Radio station XS Manchester announces BBC presenter Michelle Ackerley set to host new show

BBC presenter and Manchester born journalist Michelle Ackerley is set to host a new weekly show for radio station XS Manchester.

The new weekly current affairs show, titled XS Manchester’s Voice, will start on Sunday nights from the 3rd October and will explore stories and issues with listeners in the North West.

She has worked in a number of roles for the BBC including The One Show, Crimewatch Roadshow and Sport Relief.

In the first programme, Ackerley explores the issue of fake MDMA drugs circulating in Manchester and celebrates Black History Month with historian and author Linford Sweeney.

It will also feature Manchester poet Esther Koch headlining a Manchester-based project, titled Mind Over Matter, aimed at breaking down stigma around mental health which launches next week.

Ackerley said: “I can’t wait to work with XS Manchester to share some amazing Manchester stories and speak to incredible people from my home city.”

The show has been funded by the Audio Content Fund, a scheme which is part of a pilot and financed by the UK government, to provide funding for original radio production in the UK.
