Manchester agency Smoking Gun has been appointed to lead the PR and earned media strategy for addiction treatment provider Delamere as the Cheshire business prepares to expand beyond its home county.
The agency will deliver a strategic media relations programme aimed at raising awareness of Delamere’s approach to addiction treatment, with the appointment coming as the provider begins work on a second site in Nottingham.
Delamere, which was founded in Cheshire, said the new purpose-built facility marks the first expansion of its treatment model beyond the North West.
Under the brief, Smoking Gun will lead earned media activity using founder storytelling, expert commentary, thought leadership and news generation to promote the organisation’s approach to addiction treatment.
Martin Preston, founder and CEO of Delamere, said: “Delamere exists because we believe recovery needed to change. We were looking for a PR partner that understood how to communicate the difference in our model with sensitivity, authority and strategic depth. Smoking Gun showed a clear understanding of our story, the complexity of the category and the importance of reaching families as well as people experiencing addiction. Their media expertise and storytelling approach made them the right partner for this next phase.”
Rick Guttridge, CEO of Smoking Gun, added: “Delamere is exactly the kind of organisation Smoking Gun exists to work with: purposeful, brave and genuinely different. Delamere is helping redefine what addiction treatment can look and feel like, combining clinical expertise, holistic care, lived experience and long-term support in a way that challenges outdated perceptions of recovery. Our role is to help more people understand the Delamere Difference and ensure its pioneering approach is recognised in the conversations that matter.”
