Safe as – Stockport firm launches new ecommerce platform

Manchester ecommerce agency Fluid Commerce has launched a new B2B ecommerce website for Fletcher Stewart, a Stockport-based safety equipment distributor with a global customer base.

Fletcher Stewart’s previous website was encountering both speed and functionality issues, which affected their customers’ ordering experience, due to it operating on a previous version of Magento.

The new website will help the company seize the huge ecommerce revenue growth potential available through updating their online presence, and Fletcher Stewart bosses report that they have received anecdotal positive customer feedback.

The new website is one of the first to go live using Fluid’s in-house developed B2B ecommerce platform, Portal, which slashes the time it takes for companies to launch an ecommerce website as it provides ready-made B2B specific features.

Fletcher Stewart director Nigel Fletcher said: “As a firm we recognised the huge potential that exists in B2B ecommerce, and we needed a website that would help us realise our ambitions for this. We are already seeing positive results in investing in the new site because it’s extremely fast and incorporates a lot of features that our customers require from a specific B2B website.

“Early indications from our existing customers are that the new website is making life a lot easier for them to purchase. We have had one customer in particular who refused to purchase from our old website because of slow speeds and lack of functionality. I’m happy to say that within the first two weeks of the site being launched, the customer began placing regular orders.”

Adam Hindle, managing director at Fluid Commerce, added: “Fletcher Stewart is a highly respected supplier of safety equipment and clothing and with its new website, is ideally placed to achieve huge ecommerce growth. The increased speed of the site means customers can complete purchases in just six seconds, and that alone will have a huge impact on customer adoption.

“Projects such as this are exactly why we developed our B2B ecommerce platform Portal which is powered by Adobe’s Magento. We felt the specific requirements of the B2B market should not be a barrier to the digital transformation and that projects should not be cumbersome and unduly lengthy in order for it to be achieved.”
