Pikcells expands following 5 year US joint venture

Huddersfield CGI studio, Pikcells, has revealed how a 5 year joint venture with a North American company has helped it expand.

The company signed a JV deal with Pennsylvania’s The Shadowlight Group in 2013, to help it meet increased demand for CGI.

Since then it has worked with clients including Masterbrand Cabinets Inc, which is one of the largest cabinet makers in the United States. It has also created an innovative online configuration tool for LG Electronics.

“Pikcells is a very progressive agency that constantly pushes the boundaries of technology and photo realism, they have that special balance between quality and innovation. It has made a great partnership,” said Phil Hiestand, president, The Shadowlight Group.

“When we looked around for a CG partner, there were a number of small studios that could produce close to what we needed. However most of them gave us little confidence in producing high quality on a large scale. Pikcells on the other hand had a solid pipeline and workflow in place, similar to that of photography, this gave us confidence and provided an easy introduction into CGI for our clients.”

Pikcells has recently recruited an additional 5 members of staff across digital, UI, web and marketing.

“We are committed to investing in our people and our studio,” added creative director Richard Benson,

“Changing markets have seen many technological advances, one constant with us is always quality in the execution of our art direction and interior design. To do that we have expanded in our output to increase our capabilities. New tech like webGL and the democratisation of 3D is making demand for high quality, 3D and CGI more ubiquitous than ever.”
