We’re committing to more coverage of the North’s tech sector – and we need your help

tech

The tech sector is a UK success story – last year it grew six times faster than any other industry.

And that success story is very much rooted in the North – Manchester is the fastest growing European tech city, with investment growing an astonishing 277% last year, while the likes of Chester-based wejo and Leeds firm Crisp Thinking continue to bloom.

The announcement of the £250million Future Fund has this week been unveiled by the government – an attempt to ensure that startups receive enough investment to remain viable during the coronavirus crisis.

At Prolific North, we want to do what we can to ensure this sector receives the coverage it deserves.

We already cover tech news and run established events like the Prolific North Tech Awards, and the recent Digital City Festival did of course have a significant tech component. Our weekly My Startup feature has also shone a spotlight on dozens of the region’s burgeoning tech companies.

But we want to reiterate that commitment to the sector today by asserting our intention to cover every corner of tech and its growing significance to Northern industry.

We particularly want to hear more from emerging tech industries – from those working in AI, robotics, cybersecurity, blockchain, Internet of Things, VR and AR.

We want to follow the emerging technologies within healthtech, agritech, insurtech, edutech and all the other sub-sectors where innovation is becoming so critical.

Please send us your news to news@prolificnorth.co.uk, as well as any other suggestions for areas to cover or subjects you would like to contribute to.

We will also soon be launching a dedicated weekly tech newsletter as a central hub for all our tech coverage.
