Queer as Folk creator Russell T Davies was presented with the prestigious Judges Award at the RTS North West Awards, as well as scooping three wins for his BBC One drama Years and Years.
With 26 categories in total, BBC One led the way taking home eight awards. ITV News Granada Reports and Years and Years were the most-awarded shows with three wins each.
The awards ceremony was held at Hilton Hotel Deansgate in Manchester and hosted by Coronation Street actor and television presenter Sally Lindsay. Hollyoaks’ actor Ruby O’Donnell also presented from the red carpet and backstage.
The RTS North West Awards celebrate the best of animation, factual, comedy & entertainment, news, short feature and drama in the North West region.
Cat Lewis, Chair of RTS North West, said: “Over the last year there’s been a huge amount of growth in the North West’s TV sector and we’re extremely proud of the breadth, quality and creativity of content coming out of the region.
“It was fantastic to celebrate the achievements of our local industry and the talented individuals within it on Saturday – congratulations to all the winners.”
