QTap and Adyen partner to meet demand for mobile ordering at restaurants and bars

Payments platform Adyen has announced its partnership with Leeds’ QTap, the at-table ordering app helping hospitality venues meet customers’ expectations while still maintaining social distancing – having received massive demand since the phased return to business as usual.

Despite being launched long before the COVID outbreak in order to ease queues in pubs and bars in 2017, QTap has been inundated by requests by business owners in the past two months, due to its ability to help food and drink providers serve customers and provide up-to-date offers without creating crowds in their venues.

The introduction of QTap to more pubs, bars, restaurants, and hotels allows customers to order and pay in-app from their tables, and get real-time notifications to provide the status of their order. Manchester-based payments provider Adyen has supported the startup as its new payments partner – having come on-board as a supplier this year.

Since catering businesses returned to operations at the beginning of July, more than 250 venues have safely reopened using QTap, including The Mustard Pot in Leeds and Tyne Bank Brewery in Newcastle.

Craig Pollock, Co-founder of QTap, said: “After the hospitality industry was put on hold in March due to COVID-19, we were inundated with requests for QTap technology. We saw the opportunity to help venues get back up and running as quickly and safely as possible, so we jumped to it.

“Having worked with all sorts of payments companies in the past, between service, costs, and ease of implementation, Adyen ticks all the boxes. I’ve never had this relationship with a payment provider before – I feel listened to and supported at every stage and trust them as a safe pair of hands for QTap’s growth.”

Colin Neil, SVP Business Development at Adyen UK, added: “It’s been exciting to partner with QTap on such an innovative and functional app for the hospitality industry and their customers. While COVID-19 has had devastating effects across the board, this move towards app-based hospitality could result in quicker service and an all-round better customer experience going forward. I can’t wait to see where our partnership leads.”

Adyen is a leading payments provider providing end-to-end infrastructure connected directly to Visa, Mastercard, and consumers’ preferred payment methods. Its leading clients include Facebook, Spotify, Vue Cinemas and Uber.
