AppsAnywhere, a leading global provider of education software, is celebrating 15 years of providing students access to the software applications they need to succeed, anytime and anywhere.
Founded in 2009 as Software2, the Sherburn-in-Elmet-based company has grown to serve over 3m students in 300 institutions across 22 countries, with ambitious plans to reach every student around the world.
Staying true to its Yorkshire routes, AppsAnywhere employs 50 people across its UK HQ (a converted pub in Sherburn-in-Elmet) and the US head office in Charlotte, NC, while fostering a culture of flexibility, community, and inclusivity.
Unlike many tech companies, AppsAnywhere offers unique perks such as flexible working conditions and unlimited holidays, while maintaining strong ties with the community. It supports local sports clubs and children’s charities such as UNICEF and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
“We’re proud of our growth over the past 15 years and the meaningful work we’ve been able to offer local talent,” said Nick Johnson, co-founder and CEO. “Our company culture is key to our success, and we’ve always kept that at the forefront of our expansion. Our people are driven by the desire to make a difference and support universities to provide hybrid and flexible learning so that more students can complete a university degree.”
AppsAnywhere’s technology is relied upon by many universities both in the UK and globally. From local institutions like the University of Manchester, University of Leeds or Sheffield Hallam, to top-ranked global universities including the University of Michigan, Queensland University of Technology, or Imperial College of London, AppsAnywhere enables seamless access to essential software, allowing students to thrive in their academic journeys.
Johnson added: “I’m incredibly proud of the company we’ve built, the growth we’ve achieved, and the positive impact we’ve had on students’ lives. Looking ahead, we’re excited about the future and the innovations we are working on to further simplify software delivery for universities and meet the evolving needs of students.”
