A popular Radio Merseyside show is set to end this week after 16 years on air as the BBC’s changes to local radio schedules take effect.
The late show with Linda McDermott will end this Friday to be replaced by a new late show which will be aired across every BBC local radio station in the country, presented by Becky Want and Jo Good.
Fellow presenter, podcaster and Everton FC club statistician Gavin Buckland, who has worked with McDermott for around 30 years in total, shared a farewell photo of the pair on Twitter simply saying “Cheers boss”:
A BBC spokesperson said: “Linda has been an integral and hugely popular part of Radio Merseyside for many years. She has presented pretty much every show across our schedule at various points in her long career at the station. We know Linda will be missed by her loyal fans and we can’t thank her enough for everything she has given to BBC Radio Merseyside.”
