Manchester’s Asian Sound Radio announces Ramadan programming

Greater Manchester’s Asian Sound Radio has announced its programming plans for Ramadan 2024.

Asian Sound, part of the Lyca Group and soon-to-be-known as Lyca Radio – Greater Manchester, will feature Riz Khan broadcasting in English ‘Waqt-e-Sehar’ live from 03:00 – 05:00 daily during the Holy Month and Nuzhat Mehboob will air a three-hour Iftar show from 16:00 until 19:00.

Both shows will sponsored by Danube Properties. Furthermore, Solar 4 Good has joined hands to giveaway a laptop every week during Ramadan during a daily Naat competition. The contest will run with Ibn-e-Tabish on the ‘Mid-Morning Show’ at 10:00 weekdays.

Across the wider Lyca Group, which also includes Lyca Radio – Greater London and Lyca Gold, Shana Paratha has jumped on board across all three stations for special tracks being played across the day to coincide with Ramadan.

Raj Baddhan, CEO of Lyca Media said: “We’re super proud to be bringing our biggest ever Ramadan transmission to our listeners in Greater London and Greater Manchester. Just weeks after taking over Asian Sound Radio, we have quickly turned things around to join our three Asian stations together in bringing potentially the largest Ramadan transmission across any other UK commercial radio station. This would not have been possible without my fantastic team and the support of our sponsors. We’re delighted to have so many big brands associating themselves with Lyca for this year’s special Ramadan programming. A huge thanks to each and everyone for making this happen. Ramadan Kareem.”

The Lyca Group acquired Asian Sound Radio in December 2023. It will be rebranded as Lyca Radio – Greater Manchester to coincide with Eid 2024, which is expected on or around April 9.
