Comedian Iain Stirling is to host a new competitive format for the BBC and a studio comedy show for Comedy Central.
Race Against The Tide for the BBC is to start filming in Scotland in May, as 8 teams to head-to-head to produce sand sculptures.
The twist is that they have only 6 hours to complete their builds, from the moment the tide goes out until it comes back to shore.
“Normally, when I’m asked to get beach-ready, it’s for a very different kind of show! But this one is unlike anything I’ve seen before, and filming in Scotland makes it even more special (and will make attending Hibs games much easier),” said Stirling.
The 6-part series is the first adaptation of Blue Ant Studios’ Race Against the Tide, originally produced for CBC in Canada.
It will be made for BBC Two, BBC Scotland and iPlayer by Tern, a Zinc Media Company.
It’s Executive Produced by Harry Bell and David Marshall, with Angela Smith as Production Executive and Diane Dunbar as Head of Production.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing Race Against the Tide to the UK as our first green reality craft show,” said Harry Bell, Executive Producer, Tern.
“Combining all the elements of sand, sea, rain and wind is the perfect set up for an all Scotland production so bring on the high tide! This show marks a huge sea change for Tern as we continue to build on our mantra of Made in Scotland, Watched by the World.”
Stirling will also be the host of Iain Stirling’s Roast the Internet. Produced in-house by MTV Entertainment Studios, the studio comedy entertainment show is all about the very worst things on the internet.
Each episode will see him roast social clips, posts and trends, with 3 famous faces – comedians, online celebrities and TV personalities.
“The internet is a chaotic, ridiculous place, and who better to make sense of it all for us than Iain Stirling?” said Luke Hales, SVP Content & Brand Strategy, MTV Entertainment Studios UK, Australia & Canada.
“With his unique comedy voice at the heart of the show and a brilliant lineup of guests, this series is packed with laughs – a real treat for our audiences on Comedy Central UK.”
The 8 x 60 minute show was commissioned for Comedy Central UK by Luke Hales and Iestyn Barker (VP Original Series & Development, MTV Entertainment Studios). The Executive Producers for MTV Entertainment Studios are Iestyn Barker and Luke Shiach.
The series will be filmed in the spring and is due to air later this year on Comedy Central UK.
