Fast-growing agency doubles down with two key appointments following record year

Leeds-based full-service marketing agency Perfect Storm has strengthened its team with two new appointments as it continues its growth following a record financial year.

Ben Whiteley has joined the agency as Digital Project Lead, while Melody Sutherland has been appointed as Creative, bolstering Perfect Storm’s technology and creative capabilities.

Whiteley brings 12 years’ experience in digital project management, having most recently worked at agencies including Home, IMA and CDS. He will lead the planning, delivery and implementation of digital projects, ensuring work is delivered on time and to a high standard.

Sutherland joins as the agency looks to expand its creative offering. She previously ran her own business, Melody Murals, creating large-scale, site-specific artwork for clients including the National Football Museum and local councils, and has also worked within the creative team at Skipton Building Society.

A previous winner of the School of Thought competition, she will work alongside Head of Creative Matt Rennie, developing creative concepts, uncovering audience insights and collaborating with the agency’s partner network to deliver campaigns.

The appointments come as Perfect Storm celebrates its 10th anniversary. The agency recently reported record EBITDA growth of 20%, secured more than £500,000 of new business and doubled its headcount since 2024. Alongside its core team, it works with a freelance network of specialist partners to build bespoke teams for client projects.

Whiteley said: “I knew the culture of Perfect Storm would be ideal for me, and it’s been really easy to feel straight at home. After working in larger agencies for the last few years, the Perfect Storm model of working with various specialist partners, whilst having a consistent core team, was very appealing.”

Sutherland added: “Perfect Storm is a team of experts who are clearly full of ambition and excitement for the work they do, and I wanted in. I’m looking forward to seeing my creativity pushed and pulled in all directions to find effective solutions for such a wide range of clients. I can’t wait to get stuck into all the interesting briefs!”

Naomi Biltcliffe, Client Services Director at Perfect Storm, said: “Melody and Ben bring brilliant experience to two of Perfect Storm’s core focus areas and strengths in Creative and Technology. We’re confident they will help us continue growing from strength-to-strength – here’s looking forward to the next successful decade!”
