England greats Gazza and Seaman join driven Fishing Republic campaign

driven's Fishing Republic campaign

Wilmslow’s driven has teamed up with footballing greats David Seaman and Paul Gascoigne in a new AV campaign for angling retailer Fishing Republic.

Filmed at Linear Fisheries in Oxfordshire, keen fisherman Seaman attempts to show Gazza how it’s done, only for Gazza to reveal he has a secret helper in celebrity fisherman Ali Hamidi. The friends set out to see who can catch the most carp in the day and it turns out to be a bumper session for both of them.

During the fun-filled day Seaman and Gascoigne also find time to reminisce about their exploits together with England, including at Italia ’90 and Euro ’96.

David Seaman and Paul Gascoigne star in driven’s new campaign for Fishing Republic

Former Man City keeper Seaman, who is a Fishing Republic ambassador, said: “As soon as I saw the agency’s idea I thought ‘yes, this is going to be fantastic.’ Gazza has a heart of gold and the campaign gives viewers the chance to see him doing something he really loves. Fishing has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, so to share that with Gazza, Ali and the Fishing Republic crew was a special day.”

Graham Drury, partner at driven added: “As their name suggests, the team at Fishing Republic think fishing is unbeatable. The idea is to demonstrate this by showing the physical, mental and social benefits fishing brings. David, Gazza and Ali were completely natural together and simply enjoyed doing something they love. The chemistry and camaraderie was a great to see and all captured on film to share.”

The campaign is now live on digital, social and in-store channels. Fishing Republic operates online and in over 60 stand-alone and concession stores within GO Outdoors shops across the country.
