Leeds digital agency Engage has been appointed by restaurant group Dishoom to build a new ecommerce platform and boost the customer experience.

As part of the agency’s Built to Perform service, Dishoom has hired it to rebuild and manage the ecommerce platform and deliver a performance marketing strategy – including digital consultancy – underpinning Dishoom’s long term growth ambitions.

It has been handed the brief due to its expertise in hospitality and leisure, with existing clients including Whitbread and Arc Inspirations – and having recently been appointed by Vegan Fried Chick*n and Roadchef.

In the 2020 lockdown, Dishoom released its first-ever meal kit concept, delivering their ever-popular bacon and vegan sausage naan rolls around the country having been unable to open to sit-in diners. Having experienced enormous success through this channel, the group is increasing its investment in digital marketing to boost brand awareness and drive the growth strategy.

Ecommerce-powered meal kit deliveries have become a lifeline for many hospitality businesses which otherwise have been unable to open at all for much of the past year.

Dom Mernock, Director at Engage, said: “We’re delighted to add a great name like Dishoom to our client portfolio. Thanks to our significant experience within the sector, we have strong insight into how our services can support Dishoom in its plans. We’re looking forward to working with the team to achieve great results and seeing how the company grows.”

Sara Stark, Marketing and Creative Director at Dishoom, added: “Providing a great guest experience is at the heart of what we do, and it’s crucial that our partners understand this. We were impressed by Engage’s insight into how we can enhance our ecommerce site to provide a first-rate experience for all. We’re confident that the team’s digital marketing expertise will make them the perfect partner for us.”
