Global digital agency Dept have been revealed as the Digital City Champion at next month's festival, hosting and organising a programme of fun and interesting events for delegates around the event.

Dept, which won Large Digital Agency of the Year at the 2019 Prolific North Awards, is partnering with the festival to provide extra engaging experiences for guests coming to Manchester between March 9th and 13th this year.

The large agency, which has more than 200 staff working across the UK, is hosting the Digital City Expo afterparty - titled Cross The Line - at the end of the exhibition's first day on March 11th, and sponsoring a Marketing Session in the Keynote Theatre on the second day of the expo, which will feature Katy Leeson from Social Chain and Natasha Kosoglov from Google. See the full agenda here.

To introduce their session, which closes the final day of Digital City Expo in the Keynote Theatre, Dept's UK Creative Director, Jake Welsh, will speak on the subject of 'Redefining creativity for the digital consumer', using human-first creativity crafted by data.

Dept are also involved in the social side of Digital City Festival - hosting the free after-show party at Viadux on Albion Street, Manchester, not far from the Digital City Expo venue. Cross The Line will be a chance to mix with the diverse range of expo attendees and celebrate digital together, accompanied by food from Red's True BBQ and DJ sets by the Kultura Collective. Dept is the sponsor of the Expo bar, which sits in the middle of the hall and will feature a DJ all day on both days; and will extend that to host the exhibitors' drinks reception at the end of the first day.

The Digital City Champions are exhibiting in the eCommerce Zone at Digital City Expo, and are running two fringe events. The first is 'Architecting the modern digital experience', held on March 10th at Dept's office in Manchester, and covers how headless will be the foundation of modern digital experiences. The second, hosted on March 13th, is the official Coffee4Craig brand launch.

Brian Robinson, Managing Director of Dept UK, said: “Manchester is establishing itself as a global hub for tech innovation. It’s an exceptional city to accelerate business and Dept is committed to driving the industry forward, through laying the foundation for future growth. We’re proud to be part of Digital City Festival; it combines creativity, technology and data seamlessly, similarly to the approach Dept leads as an integrated digital agency.”

Jake Welsh said: “Digital City Festival provides a platform for Dept to give back to the industry by sharing knowledge in our talks and events, as well as connect skills and resources on a local level. Dept is stepping forward in a big way that showcases our global brand philosophy of encouraging people to enjoy what they do, work hard and celebrate success."

The international agency has its headquarters in Manchester with a base in London, and is growing its UK presence even further. Its clients include Formula E, Ascot, Ann Summers and O2.

Their open office space in Manchester city centre, where both its fringe events are hosted, is brand new and inspirational, and reflects the agency's risk-taking nature as well as its commitment to positive work culture.
