A tie-in between The Beano and Trinity Mirror will see bespoke cartoon strips appear in 4 of the publisher’s regional titles today.
The comic has designed a 32-page collector’s edition for The Daily Mirror this Saturday, with the preview cartoons running in the MEN, Liverpool Echo, Newcastle Chronicle and Birmingham Mail.
A marketing campaign will support the promotion, including in-title and online advertising and subscription offers for Trinity readers.
“We are delighted to be sampling The Beano with Trinity Mirror. The special edition comic will reach around 3.6 million readers, so it’s an exciting project for our brand allowing us to reach families up and down the country on both regional and national platforms,” said DC Thomson group marketing manager (newspapers & magazines) Kirsty Matthews.
“The Editorial team has done a great job in putting together a completely original sampler that features The Beano’s brand of mischievous entertainment.”
The special full edition will be available for free on Saturday 1st November.
“The coolest aspect is that Dennis has actually sneaked copies of this special issue into grown-ups’ newspapers! By the time anyone realises we’ll have recruited millions of new menaces. Result!” added The Beano editor-in-chief, Mike Stirling.
