No two weeks are ever quite the same at the Cheshire-headquartered agency. From client pitches and AI strategy sessions to agency culture initiatives, early morning HYROX training and the occasional office puppy distraction, Laura Fox shares how a recent week in her life panned out…

Monday

One of the things I love most about agency life is that no two weeks ever look the same, and this week started with a host of meetings with prospective clients. We spent the morning running through our creds, sharing who we are, how we think and, most importantly, how we solve problems. There’s always an energy that comes with pitching your agency to new people. Every conversation is different, and it’s a brilliant opportunity to showcase not just the work, but the talented people behind it. It’s also one of the most rewarding parts of my role, building new relationships, understanding the challenges businesses are facing and exploring how we can help them achieve their goals.

Alongside those meetings were our regular revenue forecasting and management sessions. They might not be the most glamorous part of the week, but they’re incredibly important for understanding where we’re heading as a business and making sure we’re planning ahead.

Tuesday

I’m an early riser, so three mornings a week begin with a 6am group circuit training session with my PT as I work towards my fourth HYROX event in November. While the alarm can be a struggle, those sessions have become a non-negotiable part of my routine. They set me up mentally for the day ahead and give me the feeling I’ve already achieved something before 9am rolls around.

We work a hybrid model, with everyone together in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so those days are always full on. We make a conscious effort to maximise our time together, packing the diary with collaborative meetings, creative sessions and opportunities to connect that are much harder to recreate over a screen.

This week we hosted one of our regular Breakfast Club sessions, bringing together the creative and client services teams for an hour away from emails and deadlines. This month’s challenge was to create clay portraits of each other, although let’s say the artistic ability varied wildly! When you only have everyone together in person twice a week, creating opportunities for people to collaborate, get to know each other and simply have a laugh becomes even more important.

Later in the day, we held our monthly AI Forum with the management team, which has become an important fixture in the diary. We review how AI is being implemented across the agency, from enhancing client projects where it genuinely adds value to improving our own internal processes and ways of working. Innovation is a huge focus for us, and we’re always looking at how we can stay ahead of the curve rather than simply keeping pace with the industry.

Speaking of distractions, this week’s biggest one came in the form of my new labrador puppy, who made a couple of appearances in the office. While I’d imagined she’d spend the day quietly snoozing under my desk, she had other ideas. Between winning over almost everyone she met, enthusiastically exploring every corner of the office and successfully helping herself to someone’s lunchtime shopping from beneath their desk, she’s quickly earned a reputation. Safe to say, she’s become our most popular (albeit least productive) team member.

Wednesday

Running alongside those meetings this week was a sizable pitch for an existing client, so Wednesday quickly became a balancing act between business development and delivery.

There were review sessions with our creative and strategy teams, plenty of healthy debate around ideas, and more than a few ‘just one final tweak’ moments.

Like most agency pitches, the deadline somehow manages to arrive far quicker than expected and, despite everyone’s best intentions, we were still polishing slides and fine-tuning copy right up until the wire. It’s intense, but there’s something incredibly satisfying about seeing weeks of collaboration come together in those final moments before pressing send.

I rounded off the day with an evening run, which is always a good way to clear my head after a busy day.

Thursday

Thursday started with our regular client services team catch-up. These meetings are some of the most valuable parts of my week. We share work we’re proud of, talk through lessons learnt, celebrate the wins (big and small) and tackle any operational challenges before they become bigger issues. It’s also a chance to check in with each other properly because, behind every successful campaign, is a team of people juggling deadlines, client calls and the occasional curveball.

Friday

Friday is usually a chance to take stock before another busy week begins. I spent the morning catching up with my Account Directors in our regular one-to-one meetings, talking through priorities, offering support and reflecting on everything we’d achieved during the week.

Before logging off, I always like to spend some time looking ahead. Agency life moves quickly, so having a chance to reset, plan for the week ahead and get organised means I can head into Monday feeling prepared for whatever comes next.

Then, when Friday afternoon rolls around, I’m more than ready to swap pitch decks and Teams calls for the outdoors. During the summer, weekends are usually spent at our caravan in Anglesey with my family. I’m mum to a dance-mad 11-year-old who has endless energy and loves getting out on the paddleboard just as much as I do, so it’s not unusual for us to spend more time in wetsuits than anything else.

Between beach walks with our puppy, paddleboarding, fresh sea air and switching off from agency life for a couple of days, it’s the perfect way to recharge before Monday comes around, and another busy week begins.
