Former Bet365 compliance chief joins Blackpool online competitions firm

Online prize draw company Elite Competitions has appointed former Bet365 compliance lead Peter Lynas as its new head of compliance as the business looks to its next phase of growth.

Lynas spent almost five years on the online bookie’s compliance team and brings extensive experience from one of the world’s largest and most recognised online betting and gaming operators.

In the role, he led the company-wide GLI-33 certification programme, including business review and subsequent certification (GLI-33 is a standard used by most US states as part of their regulatory requirements for sports betting), showing his experience in the highly regulated industry.

Following the announcement of the Voluntary Code in May, an important step forward in the prize competition sector, Lynas’ appointment at Elite Competitions further demonstrates the company’s commitment to upholding its principles and leading the industry forward.

His appointment will see him oversee compliance strategy across Elite Competitions, ensuring the business continues to maintain robust processes, support responsible operations and uphold high standards of transparency as it scales.

Lynas said: “Elite Competitions has built an impressive business in a short space of time and I’m excited to become part of a growing team who are leading the way in competitions.

“My experience at bet365 has given me real insight into the importance of effective compliance frameworks, customer protection and operating responsibly within a highly regulated environment. I’m looking forward to bringing that experience to Elite Competitions, continuing to build the compliance approach and support the business as it develops and grows.”

Alex Beckett, CEO of Elite Competitions, added: “Trust and transparency are fundamental to Elite Competitions, and strengthening our compliance function is a key priority as we continue to scale.

“Peter’s experience as compliance lead at bet365 will be a significant asset to the business. His knowledge of operating within a highly regulated environment will help us continue to make our processes even more robust. His appointment reflects our ambition to bring in senior expertise across the business and continue to create a team capable of supporting Elite Competitions’ long-term growth plans.”

The appointment follows a period of sustained investment across Elite Competitions, with the company expanding its leadership team across marketing, performance and customer engagement functions. Elite said it currently expects to post 60% year-on-year growth in the next three years.
