Manchester-based radio station Happy Radio UK has marked a milestone in its continued growth with the official opening of its brand-new studios in the heart of Manchester city centre at the iconic Manchester Hall.
The new studios were officially opened by Danny O’Donoghue, frontman of The Script, who attended a special launch event with an exclusive interview in the new studios with Mid Morning presenter Darren Proctor.
The move to Manchester Hall represents a significant expansion for Happy Radio, which has become the North West’s fastest-growing commercial radio station since launching in 2022. The station broadcasts across the region on DAB, online, via Smart Speakers, Freeview TV and the Happy Radio UK app.
Happy Radio co-founders Max Eden and Darren Proctor said: “We are absolutely delighted to officially open our new studios at Manchester Hall. This is a huge moment for Happy Radio and another exciting chapter in our journey. Having a permanent home in the city centre, within such an iconic and prestigious venue, is incredibly special for us.
“From day one, our vision was to create a truly local commercial radio station with big ambitions, and the support from listeners, advertisers and partners has allowed us to continue growing. We are excited to be broadcasting from the iconic Manchester Hall for many years to come.”
Manchester Hall is one of Manchester’s most recognisable event destinations, hosting weddings, conferences, corporate events, awards ceremonies, private celebrations and live entertainment throughout the year.
Laura Mackie, sales director at Manchester Hall, welcomed Happy Radio to the venue and said: “We are delighted that Happy Radio has chosen Manchester Hall as its new home. As a venue, we pride ourselves on bringing people together through exceptional events, celebrations, conferences and experiences, and Happy Radio’s strong connection with communities across Manchester and the North West makes them a fantastic fit for us.”
Since launching, Happy Radio has established itself as one of the region’s leading commercial radio stations, reaching hundreds of thousands of listeners each month and building a strong reputation for local programming and engagement.
The station’s presenter line-up features some of the North West’s most recognisable radio and television personalities including Spence Macdonald, Darren Proctor, Steve Penk, Lauren Simon, Rachael Burke-Davies & Wingman, Fiona Sadler, Ian Roberts, Chelsea Norris, Paul Crone and many more, delivering ‘The Songs That Make You Smile’ across Manchester, Cheshire and the wider North West.
