Minecraft comes to life with UK exclusive Alton Towers “Meet the Mobs” event

For the very first time, Alton Towers Resort is bringing Minecraft to life on-park in an exclusive one-time event for 2026.

The resort has announced that a brand new ‘Minecraft Meet the Mobs’ pop-up event will be launching this summer, with Manchester PR, influencer and social media agency Smoking Gun leading the campaign.

The exclusive Mob trail is the first of its kind in the UK – a similar experience will open up in Italy on the same day, July 18 – where guests can meet all-new ‘baby Mobs’, carefully positioned in six Minecraft-inspired scenes around the park.

From July 18 to August 28, families at Alton Towers Resort can:

  • Meet Minecraft Mobs in real life through in-park Minecraft costume character appearances
  • Complete the Minecraft Meet the Mobs trail and stamp their game card to unlock a special digital surprise on completion
  • Experience the fun of Minecraft in real life at Alton Towers Resort, fully included with standard park admission.

For the uninitiated, ‘Mobs’ are living creatures in the Minecraft videogames that move, interact with the environment and can be passive, neutral, or hostile.

Minecraft is a huge cultural phenomenon – with the game holding the title of best-selling video game of all time with 350 million copies sold.

Those who complete the ‘Minecraft Meet the Mobs’ trail activity will earn an exclusive Minecraft downloadable in-game reward – exclusively available to unlock in the UK at Alton Towers Resort.

Fans can also capture photos up-close with the official Mob costume characters Iron Golem, Chicken Jockey and Creeper, plus with puppets including yellow axolotls, baby pandas, pigs, goats, chicks, wolf pups and more.

The whole family can fully immerse themselves in the world of Minecraft with themed snack stands serving Minecraft-inspired TNT popcorn and ice-lollies available for purchase.

Exclusive new Minecraft merchandise will be available for guests to purchase throughout the event, offering a special keepsake to remember their fun-filled family day out.

Howard Ebison, Vice President at Alton Towers Resort said: “Minecraft is loved by families around the world, and this summer we’re bringing that sense of play and discovery into our park.

“Minecraft Meet the Mobs is set to delight our guests with interactive moments across the park, an opportunity to unlock exclusive in-game rewards, enjoy themed treats and plenty of surprises along the way. We are proud to offer this unique Minecraft event for our guests joining us over the summer, all within their price of admission to Alton Towers Resort.”

Guests can experience this limited-time event at Alton Towers Resort, included with the regular price of admission from 18 July to 28 August 2026.
