Wakefield software consultancy delivers digital membership scheme for 5-aside-football and padel giant

Wakefield-based software consultancy Propel Tech has partnered with Powerleague, one of the UK’s leading operators of small-sided football and padel venues, to design and deliver the technical foundations of a new, high-impact customer membership scheme.

Powerleague welcomes thousands of players into its clubs every week and identified an opportunity to strengthen customer loyalty and engagement by launching a free membership programme. The scheme offers members early access to pitch bookings, exclusive discounts on food, drink and equipment, and a more seamless in-club experience, while also enabling Powerleague to gain deeper insight into customer behaviour through improved data capture and reporting.

To support the vision, Powerleague required new membership functionality to be built directly into its core booking platform, Centrenet, alongside tight integration with existing EPOS and CRM systems. The solution needed to be delivered quickly and reliably, with minimal disruption, ahead of a high-profile launch.

Propel Tech worked closely with Powerleague to design, build and integrate the solution, delivering bespoke software development across the Centrenet platform while enhancing its underlying architecture to support membership recognition and benefits. This included the introduction of an advanced booking window for members, alongside full systems integration with Epos Now, allowing tills to automatically recognise members and apply relevant discounts when a QR membership pass is scanned in club.

As part of the wider delivery, Propel also integrated Centrenet with HubSpot CRM, enabling Powerleague’s marketing and CRM teams to clearly identify members, track behaviour and target communications more effectively. New reporting and data enablement capabilities were introduced to provide improved visibility over membership performance, transactional activity and customer engagement, creating a robust foundation for ongoing optimisation and future platform enhancements.

Despite a tight timeline, the project was scoped rapidly and delivered ahead of schedule, ensuring all functionality was available from day one of launch.

The impact was immediate, Aanand Hirani, Head of IT at Powerleague, said: “The launch of our new membership scheme has been a huge success. Within the first two weeks we saw nearly 3,000 members sign up and over 1,000 membership pass scans in our venues,” he revealed.

The new membership platform now provides a scalable foundation for future enhancements, supporting Powerleague’s long-term plans to grow customer loyalty, increase in-club spend and strengthen data-driven marketing.

David Ritchie, founder of Propel Tech, added: “This project shows the value of treating software as a strategic asset rather than a bolt-on. By combining bespoke development, systems integration and strong data foundations, we were able to help Powerleague deliver a better experience for customers while unlocking insight that supports smarter decision-making across the business.”
