Hundreds of people in the UK are experiencing problems listening to music and podcasts this morning due to the Spotify app reportedly not opening.
Several reports of the Spotify app being down have been made to online service DownDetector, with the problems apparently beginning late last night and spiking this morning with over 400 reports made at 8.21am.
Of the complaints, 94 per cent are about issues with the Spotify app, while five per cent of people are having problems with audio streaming, and one per cent are struggling with Spotify’s website.
Spotify users have taken to X, formerly Twitter, to share the problems they are facing with the music streaming service.

Spotify has confirmed that it is looking into the issue, advising users overnight to use its web player instead in the meantime.
The latest drama for app users is the latest in an ongoing run of problems for some of the world’s most popular apps. Last month, millions of customers were affected when an outage at AWS meant that apps including Roblox, Snapchat, Canva, Fortnite and even HMRC went into limbo.
Downdetector is an online website that allows users of popular services like X, Instagram, Facebook, Virgin Media and more to report if they are having trouble with the services.
The site only reports an incident when the number of problem reports is significantly higher than the typical volume for that time of day.
The website monitors disruptions to various key services including the internet, web hosting platforms, banks, social media and more.
Problem indicators are also collected from social media and other factors on the web, validated and analysed in real-time.
Users can get involved by submitting any issue reports on the platform.
An incident is then detected if the number of reports is significantly higher than the typical average for that particular service.
When a user goes to investigate the issue, they can see what the most reported problems are currently and check if their areas are in one of the outage hotspots.
