Kylie Minogue issues emotional reaction after Manchester ‘honour’ as she joins likes of Peter Kay and Beyonce

Global pop icon Kylie Minogue has shared an emotional reaction after Manchester’s AO Arena confirmed her as the venue’s most-played female solo artist in its 30-year history.

The milestone came following two sold-out shows this week as part of her record-breaking Tension Tour, marking her 33rd performance at the iconic Manchester venue.

Taking to Instagram, an elated Minogue wrote: “(33) shows at the AO Arena Manchester … the most played female artist 🤯 What an honour WOW WOW WOW!!! Thank you!!!”

The post captured the singer’s astonishment at the achievement, which sees her join an elite group of record-holding performers at the arena including Peter Kay, Take That and Beyoncé.

The accolade comes as no surprise given Minogue’s popularity in the UK. Over her career, she has sold more than 500,000 tickets at the venue alone, cementing her status as one of its most beloved and consistently successful acts. The achievement holds extra significance as the AO Arena celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

Gemma Vaughan, General Manager of the AO Arena, said: “”It’s an honour to have hosted Kylie at the AO Arena, and celebrating her becoming our most played Female Solo Artist in our venue’s history. It’s a credit to our heritage and our long-standing relationship with our industry partners that we’re able to share such amazing moments with the millions of fans that pass through our doors each year. As we celebrate our 30th Anniversary this year, it’s important to us to look back at all of the wonderful things we’ve achieved, but also look forward to the future, too. Our recent £60 million redevelopment has revolutionised our Artist and Fan experience, so here’s to 30 more years of being in the heart of the city, here in Manchester. And of course, here’s to Kylie, too!”

Minogue’s Tension Tour continues to break records globally, while the AO Arena has recently completed a £60 million redevelopment.
