Yorkshire music-for-fitness specialist branches out with huge Warner Music streaming deal

Pure Energy Music, the Yorkshire-based provider of rights-included music for the fitness and leisure industry, has signed a major distribution deal with Warner Music’s independent distribution arm, ADA (Alternative Distribution Alliance).

The partnership brings Pure Energy Music’s expertly curated catalogue to global streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon Music and more.

The move significantly extends Pure Energy Music’s reach, bringing its fitness-optimised soundtracks beyond the studio and into everyday listening environments, while continuing to serve its core community of fitness professionals and operators through the Pure Energy Music App – designed specifically for legal, in-class music use. Unlike platforms such as Spotify, which are licensed for personal listening only, the Pure Energy Music App ensures fitness operators have access to music that is fully cleared for commercial fitness settings.

Andy Pickles (right), CEO of Pure Energy Music said: “We’ve always believed that music created specifically for fitness and well-being deserves a broader audience. Thanks to our partnership with ADA, our music and artists now sit alongside global names on the world’s leading platforms – reaching new listeners while staying true to our mission: empowering the fitness and wellness sector with expertly crafted, performance-driven music.”

The catalogue being distributed spans a wide range of purpose-built music, from energising functional fitness tracks and chilled yoga flows, to tempo-controlled house, pop, and ambient mixes. All tracks are composed and produced specifically for movement and fully cleared for commercial and personal use within the Pure Energy Music platform.

This deal marks Pure Energy Music’s debut in the B2C space. While the company’s core platform remains the only legal solution for music playback in gyms and studios, this new distribution deal introduces a consumer-facing layer to the brand. Importantly, the tracks made available on digital streaming platforms such as Spotify are licensed solely for personal use and are not permitted for commercial playback. This distinction is vital, fitness operators must continue to utilise Pure Energy Music’s rights-cleared platform to ensure legal compliance for in-class music use.

Pure Energy Music states that it is dedicated to creating playlists with purpose. Each collection is curated by fitness professionals who have a deep understanding of tempo, flow, and intensity. These public playlists are not merely repurposed catalogues, Pure Energy insists, but entirely new listening experiences, thoughtfully crafted by industry experts.

Pickles added: “The National Fitness Day 2025 playlists, created in partnership with ukactive, are now live on Spotify – showcasing how fitness-focused music can inspire movement beyond the gym. The two curated playlists, ‘Mindful Beats’ and ‘Upbeat Vibes’, are designed to support both mind and body. Mindful Beats provides a calming, restorative soundtrack rooted in the principles of sound and frequency to encourage relaxation, focus, and gentle movement, while Upbeat Vibes delivers energising tracks with the right BPM to boost mood, motivation, and performance. Together, they offer an accessible way to enjoy the benefits of physical activity and support the shared goal of getting more people, more active, more often.”

By launching on major streaming platforms, Pure Energy Music also plans to open up new opportunities for brand partnerships. Fitness and wellness organisations can now curate their own branded playlists powered by Pure Energy Music across Spotify and Apple Music for the first time, targeting consumers rather than operators.

The firm claims that this is more than a distribution deal, but rather “a step change in how music made for movement can connect with people in everyday life,” offering artists wider reach, and listeners a new way to experience music engineered for energy, focus, and flow.
