WATCH: Yorkshire agency reimagines Mona Lisa with a fry-up in brilliant Best Western campaign

A Yorkshire creative agency has been turning heads by reimagining some the world’s most iconic artworks like the Mona Lisa and Girl with a Pearl Earring tucking into a Full English for Best Western’s latest campaign.

Leeds-based SHARP Agency is the team behind Better with Breakfast, a playful national campaign that blends classic art, generative AI and down-to-earth British charm to promote Best Western GB’s year-long free breakfast offer.

The campaign, which features animated versions of well-known masterpieces enjoying a hotel breakfast, is already making an impact. Since launch, it’s helped generate £1.2 million in revenue, delivered more than 22,000 free breakfasts and attracted over 31,000 visits to the campaign’s landing page.

It’s also picked up industry plaudits, winning the Creative Excellence award at the Hotel Marketing Awards in June.

Now, the next phase is rolling out to the streets, with outdoor activations near London’s National Gallery bringing the animated artworks to a wider audience. Ever wondered what the Mona Lisa looks like while sipping a cup of tea and munching toast? Now you can find out.

“Our original idea focussed on how a free Best Western breakfast can brighten anyone’s day, even the Mona Lisa,” said Richard Sharp, creative director at SHARP Agency. “To bring this concept to life our team embraced AI, integrating it with our creative thinking to make the most of its potential.”

The project builds on a string of bold creative work from SHARP, including Best Western’s record-breaking January 2-for-1 campaign and high-impact stunts for clients like XE.com and Clash of Kings.

With their latest work, SHARP proves once again that even in a virtual-heavy world, a good breakfast — and a great idea — can still cut through.
