Liverpool is the latest city to get 5G connectivity, as Vodafone increases its high speed network.
Currently the technology is being tested ahead of the arrival of compatible handsets and devices later in the year.
“5G will give our customers in Liverpool much faster mobile speeds, even in busy areas. Once 5G phones arrive, our network will be ready. You will be able to download a video or movie extremely quickly and you won’t need to waste time searching for a reliable WiFi connection,” said Vodafone UK’s Chief Technology Officer, Scott Petty.
5G promises device speeds 10 times faster than 4G, meaning high quality 4K and even 3D holographic calls.
Later this year, Birkenhead, Blackpool and Warrington are expected to get 5G masts.
Liverpool and Manchester were chosen as two 5G test cities by Vodafone last year.
