Andrew Campbell, currently print editor of the Liverpool Echo, has been appointed editor of the Daily Post in Wales.
Campbell will take up his new position in July when current editor Mark Thomas steps down after 40 years in journalism.
Campbell, who joined Trinity Mirror in 1995 from the Gloucester Citizen, has held several senior roles for the publisher including Echo investigations editor, Welsh news editor, assistant editor of Daily Post Wales and deputy editor of the Echo.
He covered the Fred and Rose West crimes and investigation in Gloucester and was embedded as an Echo reporter during NATO operations in Kosovo.
He has also spent six months as producer of the Channel One TV Station in Liverpool.
Trinity Mirror said that Campbell was an “outstanding reporter” and had been “a key figure in the implementations of both Newsroom 3.0 and Newsroom 3.1”.
