Manchester and Leeds-based tech training provider Northcoders has been awarded an Outstanding rating across all areas in its first full OFSTED inspection.
The highest possible rating covers all core categories, including Quality of Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership and Management, and Adult Learning Programmes.
Following the May 2025 inspection, Northcoders now ranks in the top 6% of further education providers delivering apprenticeships and skills training in the UK.

The report highlighted the group’s “highly ambitious, current and industry-informed curriculum” and “exceptionally effective support” delivered by mentors and careers consultants. Inspectors also praised its inclusive approach and strong outcomes in helping learners rapidly transition into digital careers.
CEO Chris Hill said: “We are incredibly proud to have received the highest possible recognition from OFSTED. This Outstanding rating is a clear validation of the quality we strive to deliver, from curriculum design to course execution, and the life-changing impact our programmes have for learners from all walks of life.
“This result significantly strengthens our position in the competitive tendering landscape, particularly with government and regional funding bodies which we are currently navigating. It enhances our credibility, bolsters our bid-winning capability, and positions us as a leading provider of high-quality digital skills training at a time when confidence and rigour in provider selection has never been more critical.”

Northcoders’ training offer includes software and data engineering Skills Bootcamps aimed at addressing the UK’s growing digital skills gap.
Last year the firm launched a new Software Development in C# Skills Bootcamp that aims to help people who want to pursue a software development career due to an increasing demand from companies that need junior developers who specialise in the language. The Northcoders Group also reported ‘record demand’ in H1-2024, delivering a 26% increase in revenues during the period to £4.4 million (H1-2023: £3.5 million).
