Sir Michael Parkinson and Lord Alan Sugar are among the guests lined up for the next series of Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, produced by Shiver TV.

The pair join Harry Reknapp, Michael Barrymore and Spice Girl Mel B for the 5×60 minute series, which is due to air soon on ITV.

Morgan said he had tried for 10 years to persuade his long-term friend, billionaire businessman Sugar, to take part.

The Good Morning Britain host said: “I’ve tried for ten years to get Lord Sugar to do Life Stories but he’s always bottled it. Now we’re going to finally get it on, and I predict fireworks. With his late addition, I think this new series is now officially the best line-up we’ve ever had.”

Lord Sugar said: “I know he’ll try to make me cry but he’s got more chance of becoming Pope. Morgan talks a great game but can’t walk it, as viewers will discover with this interview.”

In previous series of Life Stories, Morgan has interviewed the likes of Sir Elton John, Sir Richard Branson, Nigel Farage, James Corden and Gordon Brown when he was Prime Minister.

The 16th series has been commissioned for ITV by Asif Zubairy, Commissioning Editor, Entertainment, with Executive Producer Yvonne Alexander, Series Director Paul Kirrage and Series Producer, Elen Moore.

Zubairy said: “Piers has three traits that scare interviewees but that audiences love: he’s curious, determined and forensic. This series is one of the best yet and people should be prepared to learn some surprising truths about celebrities they thought they knew everything about.”

Shiver, which has bases in MediaCityUK, Leeds and London, is also behind programmes including Come Dine With Me, Paul O’Grady: For The Love Of Dogs and the Martyn Lewis Money Show.
