Series of commissions and appointments at STV Studios

STV Studios has announced a series of commissions across Factual and Entertainment.

The 5 confirmed so far this summer include a second series of The Fortune Hotel from its label, Tuesday’s Child. The reality competition show, which is hosted by Stephen Mangan is set to go into production later this year, ahead of transmission in 2025.

“We’re thrilled to be opening the doors of the Fortune Hotel again and can’t wait to see who will be checking in to play a gripping game of subterfuge and are already planning lots of deliciously devious surprises to ensure our guests never get too comfortable during their stay,” said Executive Producer, Steph Harris.

Another STV Studios indie, Hello Mary, has been commissioned to produce Vicky Pattison: Destination Wedding, a 2 x 60minute reality show for E4.

While Owl Power will produce an 8th series of the award-winning Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing for BBC2 and iPlayer.

These follow the previously announced Disease X, for BBC Two and iPlayer and comedy entertainment pilot, James Acaster: People Person (w/t), for Channel 4.

“STV Studios continues to deliver strong creative and commercial momentum in 2024, with our labels winning a significant number of high value, landmark commissions both here in the UK and internationally,” stated David Mortimer, Managing Director, STV Studios.

“All this, despite the continuing challenges that exist in the commissioning market. Crucially, our development pipeline is very strong and we expect to announce additional exciting new projects in due course. “

STV Studios’ Rumpus Media has also announced the appointment of Adeel Amini in the newly created role of Head of Entertainment.

The production company, known for BAFTA-winning series Late Night Lycett and The Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan, has brought in the Bradford-born producer to lead development and production of its entertainment slate.

He joins next month from Objective Media Group, where he produced ITV game show Lingo and its RuPaul-hosted US counterpart for CBS, plus Alan Carr’s Picture Slam, which was recently commissioned for a second series.

Amini has previously produced STV Studios Entertainment’s Celebrity Catchphrase for ITV.

“I could not be more thrilled to join Rumpus as Head of Entertainment, which comes as the next exciting phase of my 16-year career in the genre. I’ve been an admirer of both the company and of [Acting Managing Director] Josephine Brassey ever since I had the pleasure of working with her many years ago, and I’m very much looking forward to everything we can achieve together at Rumpus,” he said.
