Huddersfield price comparison brand Deals.co.uk has hired SalfordOnline.com founder Tom Rodgers as editor across its brands.
Rodgers, 34, set up the Salford website a decade ago and it had a weekly audience of 35,000 unique users. However, it had to close last October as Rodgers admitted it was no longer financially viable.
At Deals.co.uk, he is tasked with redesigning content strategy and bringing in broadband, phone and technology exclusives. He is also starting to build a team of freelance journalists.
The Deals.co.uk brands include BroadbandDeals.co.uk and mobile comparison site SIMOnlyDeals.co.uk. Rodgers joins at a period of growth for the Huddersfield firm as it seeks to rollout at least three further price comparison sites over the next six months.
He said: “I’m delighted to be joining a profitable brand which is already making strong headway in the consumer market. Price comparison is a market dominated by international brands but we move quickly, we provide top quality customer service and now our news and content is on point.”
MD Ben Tibbits added: “Tom came to us with a stellar CV and has already proved to be a great addition to our agile team. We’re looking forward to pushing on and using his experience to build great products which really work for the consumer.”
