Recruitment underway as Middle East proptech announces Leeds UK HQ

A technology company that designs and supplies specialist software for property developers, construction firms and project managers, has chosen Leeds as the location for its UK headquarters.

Morta.com has expanded into Worx at 2 Great George Street – a grand former Victorian schoolhouse that’s been transformed into a mixed use development with high quality, Grade A office space on the ground floor, and 83 luxury residences on the upper floors.

Morta, which was founded in the UAE, has been creating and testing its property development software for two years and began supplying it earlier this year. The company is now recruiting a team of software engineers, sales people and specialists in AI in Leeds.

Alyssa Castillo, marketing manager from Morta, said: “We are a start-up business on a mission to create the best software for property developers in the UK and around the world. Although we’ve only been supplying our software since summer, we’re quickly establishing an enviable client base, which already includes several well-known companies across Yorkshire, Manchester and Cheshire.

“Expanding into 2 Great George Street gives us a strategic location to build on this and we’re currently talking to a wide range of property developers in Leeds, as well as throughout the UK. In addition, technology in Leeds is a major part of the region’s economy and that means the city has access to a great talent pool and two highly reputable universities, which makes it the perfect place to recruit as we continue developing our AI technology and software.

“We’re now looking forward to growing our team in an amazing historic building that offers a full range of amenities including a gym and a private outside terrace, which are both great for team wellbeing.”

Nathan Priestley, CEO at Prestley Group, which Worx is part of, said: “Welcoming Morta to Leeds is a big coup for both the city and Worx at 2 Great George Street, which has become a key landmark in the city centre’s historic Civic Quarter.

Priestley added that the group already uses Morta’s property development software across its companies: “Morta’s groundbreaking technology has significantly enhanced how we work by integrating all the key development fundamentals, spanning feasibility, budgeting, reporting, compliance and even stakeholder collaboration, into one easy to use software package,” he said. “There’s no doubt it will become the go-to product for property developers, with endless potential, which is hugely exciting.”
