Reach has announced that it has surpassed the 50,000 mark for paid digital subscribers, as it aims towards a target of 75,000 by year-end. The announcement comes just shy of nine months since its first offering launched, with the Manchester Evening News going live to subscribers in late November 2025.
Since then, the business has launched paid subscription offerings for 19 brands across its nationwide product portfolio. This includes national titles with the Mirror, Express, Daily Star and Daily Record, as well as local titles like HullLive, which launched on July 21 and has already passed the 1,000 subscribers threshold.
In the coming weeks, further titles will roll out a paid subscription offering, including GlasgowLive, EdinburghLive and NorthWalesLive.
The digital subscription offering differs across titles, but broadly includes exclusive content, a cleaner ad-lite experience, and various partner offers and discounts.
Most titles have launched at £4.99 monthly, with some slightly higher, for example Express Premium at £6.99, and others slightly lower, for example Mirror+ at £3.99.
Chief exec Piers North said: “Reaching 50,000 paid digital subscribers is a testament to the hard work of our teams and the wide appeal and value of our content, and this is in addition to a base of over 65,000 print, e-edition and paid newsletter subscribers.
“This marks a key milestone on our road to building reliable and recurring revenue streams, with a target of 75,000 by the end of year and more into 2027. We’ll be keeping up the pace as we deepen the relationship with our audiences, finesse the offering and learn more about our communities along the way.”
At Reach’s half year results presentation for 2026, shared last month, North also announced that Reach would be experimenting with new paid community brands, giving previously print-only legacy brands an online home for the first time, starting with the Southport Visiter, Ayrshire Post and The Journal in Newcastle.
Reach is the UK’s largest regional publisher, reaching 66% of the UK online population every month, as well as over 115m social followers around the world.
