PushON to deliver new ecommerce site for Cherry Red Records, home of Dead Kennedys and Inspiral Carpets

Cherry Red, the legendary Punk and Post-Punk record label, has teamed up with Manchester-based agency PushON to unleash a rebellious new ecommerce website on the Adobe Commerce platform.

In a battle of the bands that pitted agencies and platforms against each other, PushON emerged as the headlining act to propel the historic label into the future.

With roots dating back to 1978, Cherry Red has been churning out punk and post punk classics from the likes of Dead Kennedys, Hawkwind, former Carter USM frontman Jim Bob and the Inspiral Carpets ever since.

After trading successfully online for many years, Cherry Red felt the time was right to crank up the volume and give their fiercely loyal fans what they crave, with increased speed and ease.

The nature of the label’s audience can place extreme demands on the website infrastructure when a new release goes live, for example, but Adobe’s scalable Adobe Commerce Cloud infrastructure caters for massive spikes in demand as a matter of course, leading to happy customers with great products.

Matt Bristow, director of Cherry Red, said: “Culture is the lifeblood of Cherry Red, and we found in PushON a band of misfits who intimately understand our rebellious spirit and even blast our tunes on their playlists. Their punked-up understanding, combined with the mind-blowing potential of Adobe Commerce, made them our number one choice.”

Headlining for PushON was Simon Wharton, founder and business strategy director. He said: “I’ve been pogoing to Cherry Red records for decades; the Dead Kennedys’ Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables was a pivotal record that made my eardrums bleed with joy. I had to take the stage for this gig, and we had to come out victorious because we live and breathe their music. Adobe Commerce is the ultimate platform for these punk and post punk legends.”

The new Cherry Red Adobe Commerce website will go live later this year.
