The Prime Video Academy, a partnership between Amazon Prime and the National Film and Television School which is offering 25 paid apprenticeships and traineeship placements, has announced a pair of Northern open days for prospective candidates, taking place in Manchester and Leeds on September 9.
The one-of-a-kind opportunity, delivered by the National Film and Television School across its London, Cardiff and Glasgow hubs, follows a ‘get paid as you learn’ model. Trainees receive top-tier training from industry professionals and gain work experience on UK-produced Amazon Original Series or with Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios partners.
This year, for the first time, the scheme is extending bursary funding to applicants from the Leeds and Manchester areas to cover accommodation costs during the initial eight-week training stint at NFTS’s Beaconsfield (London) campus, after which they will return home for work placements.
If you are committed to working in the film and television industry, and are interested in either an apprenticeship in production management or a traineeship in a craft specialism, the open day is a great way to find out more about this paid apprenticeship and traineeship.
The Manchester leg of the open day takes place at dock10 Studios in MediaCity from 12.30pm to 2pm, and features an overview of the traineeship and apprenticeship, tips for your application and interview, a Q&A and tour of the studios which have played host to shows including A Question of Sport, University Challenge and Naked Attraction.
The Leeds event follows at the NFTS’ Leeds base from 5.30pm to 6.30pm and will follow a similar format.
All open day attendees must be at least 16 years of age, and before attending either event, the organisers ask that attendees have read the programme information on the apprenticeship or traineeship page of the website, including the FAQs, and watched the relevant Prime Video Craft Academy film found there.
