Parachuting kittens, skateboarding elephants and a debonair disco dolphin are fronting a new campaign from Manchester’s Q Energy, created with creative and strategic marketing partner, MediaCity’s Upp B2B.
Q Energy is on a mission to save businesses money on their electricity bills. Specialising in enabling organisations to reduce both energy costs and carbon emissions, Q Energy uses Artificial Intelligence to purchase and store electricity when prices are lower, and then use it when the prices rise at peak times.
The approach, says the firm, consistently delivers savings of up to 25% compared with conventional tariffs while also accelerating progress toward net zero, and their Smart Battery Tariff even guarantees a 1–3p/kWh lower rate than the best fixed tariff in the market.
The topical new campaign pokes fun at the more frivolous use of AI that we see on our newsfeeds every day. We live in a world where anyone can bring their wildest dreams to life in an image, so Q Energy decided to put the frequently pointless practice to good use.

The campaign parodies these kinds images, and puts them to work gaining attention and highlighting the real savings potential of Artificial Intelligence, aiming to help customers imagine what’s possible when AI is used smartly.
Continuously monitoring & predicting electricity usage, generation and grid conditions while intelligently reacting to market prices would have been impractical in a pre-AI world. Today, Q Energy is doing that for more than 200 businesses across the UK in a fine example of how AI can be used to help people and businesses.
Alex Bandaranaike, director, client services at Upp B2B said: “At Upp B2B, we’ve recently positioned ourselves as the home of ‘Powerful Creative Thinking’ and this campaign is a prime example of how B2B marketing can get a reaction from audiences. We believe that our strategic, creative, digital, design and branding expertise is the perfect complement to Q Energy’s innovative and ambitious team of energy specialists.”
Vijay Natarajan, co-founder & COO at Q Energy added: “We’re excited to get our message out to as many businesses as possible. This campaign is a big step towards our goal of helping more organisations understand that they never need to overpay for their energy again. Together, with our partners at Upp B2B, we’re going to change the face of the B2B energy market.”
Upp B2B has also worked with clients including DHL Supply Chain, Travis Perkins, Elsevier, London Business School and CHEP.
