Hexarad, a platform uniting clinical excellence with system intelligence which claims to be “the UK’s fastest-growing radiology transformation platform,” has announced an expansion of its ongoing partnership with NHS England which will see patients in the North East and South Yorkshire receive faster results from their hospital scans.
Hexarad uses technology to enable hospitals and clinicians to report on scans such as X-rays and ultrasound faster, and means patients have less time to wait between having a scan and getting the result.
Last year, a million scans took over a month to report, causing significant anxiety for patients.

Hexarad is rolling out its OptiRad workflow intelligence software across nine sites in the North East of England, including an Integrated Care Board, and across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Integrated Care System.
The rollouts mark a significant milestone in Hexarad’s mission to deliver fast and accurate diagnosis for everyone, everywhere.
At one NHS trust, OptiRad increased reporting output by 12%, reduced turnaround times by 18%, and delivered approximately £150,000 in annual savings on outsourced reporting, without adding to its radiologist headcount.
Farzana Rahman, CEO and co-founder of Hexarad, said: “Radiology departments are working incredibly hard, but without the tools to see what’s happening across their service in real time, capacity gets wasted and patients wait longer than they should. OptiRad changes that. We’re proud to be working with NHS England to bring this intelligence to the North East and South Yorkshire – giving clinicians more visibility and, crucially, getting patients faster results.”
With a 31% shortfall in consultant radiologists projected to rise to 40% by 2028, the pressure on radiology departments will only intensify. Hexarad says it hopes to offer a solution, not by simply employing more radiologists, but through smarter use of the capacity that already exists.
Hexarad has now supported over two million patient diagnoses across NHS trusts and hospitals, and OptiRad is available to NHS radiology departments now.
