ITV dating show Take Me Out has been axed after 11 series.

The long-running show, hosted by Bolton-born Paddy McGuinness, has been a mainstay on Saturday nights for 10 years but TV bosses believe the programme has now “run its course”.

An ITV spokesman said: “We’ve decided to say goodbye to Take Me Out.”

The first series was recorded at Granada Studios in Manchester but has since been recorded at The Maidstone Studios in Kent.

The series saw a single man arrive on stage in a ‘love lift’ before having to choose from a panel of 30 women.

McGuinness, who coined the catchphrase “No likey, no lighty!”, will however be kept busy with Top Gear, which he co-hosts with Andrew Flintoff and Chris Harris. Yesterday we revealed that the show would be moving from BBC Two to BBC One after a successful relaunch.
