A Manchester cyber security company founded by a pair of British military veterans is opening a Southern hub in Luton as it celebrates a first year in business that has seen it grow its team to six, secure more than 10 enterprise clients, and develop AI-powered automation technology that delivers real-time cyber defence – claiming to contain threats in just 60 seconds – and enterprise-grade protection without the cost or complexity of clients building their own Security Operations Centre.
Aruga Cyber is headquartered at the Greater Manchester Digital Security Hub (DiSH), and now also operates its new office in Luton, Bedfordshire. Over the past 12 months, the company has delivered fully managed SOC services to more than 10 enterprise clients and also launched its Threat Exposure Management service to improve visibility of emerging risks, created SOC services tailored specifically for SMEs, and grown its partnership programme to deliver white-labelled services through IT providers, cyber security consultancies and resellers.
Founded last year by David Taylor (pictured, left, with Osaka mayor Hideyuki Yokoyama), a veteran Royal Navy submariner with more than 20 years’ experience in defence and cyber operations, and his co-founder, British Army vet Daniel Long, Aruga Cyber has quickly established itself as one of the UK’s most innovative SOC providers.
Aruga was recently part of the Greater Manchester delegation that welcomed the Japanese ambassador to the UK as the city signed a formal Sister City Agreement with Osaka, underlining how confidently it has established itself in the city-region’s growing tech ecosystem.
As part of its next phase of growth, Aruga will launch its free Cyber Compass gap analysis tool, enabling businesses to complete a cyber resilience evaluation through its bespoke platform and receive a tailored threat report instantly.
Traditionally, this process can cost thousands of pounds and require days of expert analysis, but Aruga claims to have simplified it into a free, AI-powered service that is accessible to all organisations, regardless of size or budget.
Taylor, MD of Aruga Cyber, said: “The past year has been transformational for Aruga Cyber, and we’re now on track to double revenue in the next 12 months. We’ve shown that real-time, enterprise-grade cyber defence doesn’t need to come with enterprise-level cost or complexity.
“Cyber security shouldn’t be a luxury reserved for big corporations. Our free Cyber Compass is designed to level the playing field, enabling businesses of all sizes to understand and mitigate their risks. Drawing from our military background of protecting and serving, our mission is to democratise cyber security and give every organisation the tools to defend itself in today’s fast-changing digital world.”
