Dani Briers has quit as Managing Director of McCann Birmingham after eight months in the role.

Briers – who left Carat last July after 10 months in post – said he was moving to be closer to friends and family in the North West.

Dean Lovett, CEO of McCann Birmingham, told Prolific North: “It is a shame that Dani has decided to leave us, but we totally understand and appreciate that that he feels that moving away from his roots in the longterm is not sustainable and that we should plan for the future without him.”

Briers added: “I have absolutely loved my time at McCann and feel privileged to have worked with such an amazing bunch of people, but being closer to friends and family is also very important to me and so I have made the difficult decision to look for other opportunities.”

Briers took over as one of two new managing directors at the agency in January. He told Prolific North he would be remaining with McCann until the end of 2018.

He had left Carat, where he was Group Business Director, in July after only 10 months in post after deciding it wasn’t “the right position for me” and is also a former Managing Director of PHD North and has held senior positions at TBWA Manchester and Jessops.

Rob Mustoe remains co-MD, having been promoted internally.
