Manchester United joins Facebook to promote Camera Effect

Manchester United and Facebook have joined forces to promote a new feature on the global social networking site.

Camera Effects will be made available to the general public in the near future and turns smartphone cameras into an augmented reality platform.

The software is built around 3 aspects – location, 3D effects and object recognition. The aim being for the camera to pinpoint the exact location of objects and then add suitable animation to the pictures.

 

It was unveiled alongside the club at Facebook’s annual F8 developer conference in California.

The platform includes 2 creative tools – Frame Studio and AR Studio, which enable the Facebook community to create their own visual effects using the Facebook camera.
