Manchester-based Devlin Entertainment Ltd has formally introduced its new “Fibonacci Format Engine,” a development system that the company claims is transforming how it creates unscripted formats, and attracting commissioner attention to projects that were previously passed over.
Founder Wayne Devlin has been applying the Fibonacci system across his slate, using natural mathematical patterns, including the Fibonacci sequence and the Golden Ratio, to shape escalation, rhythm, jeopardy and payoff inside format engines. The impact, Devlin says, has been immediate.
“It’s changed everything,” he claimed. “Formats that struggled to cut through are suddenly landing with clarity and momentum. Commissioners who previously overlooked certain ideas are now requesting meetings, asking for decks, and actively engaging. The system works.”

The Fibonacci Format Engine is designed to make formats feel structurally inevitable, mirroring the natural patterns found in architecture, design and biology. By aligning format beats with Fibonacci progression, Devlin Entertainment claims to have created a development framework that strengthens repeatability, heightens emotional cadence, and sharpens the spine of both episode and season arcs.
Early reactions from broadcasters and production partners suggest the approach is resonating. Multiple projects built using the system have moved from passive interest to active development conversations.
“Commissioners can feel the difference,” Devlin added. “The formats breathe. They escalate naturally. They pitch cleaner. It’s become a core part of how we build IP at Devlin Entertainment.”
The company will continue rolling out the Fibonacci Format Engine across its development slate, with further announcements expected as new titles progress through the commissioning pipeline.
