Manchester CGI platform raises $5.2m investment to support expansion

CGHero

Manchester-based CGI marketplace platform CGHero has secured a $5.2 million investment, led by US venture capital firm Beringea to support its expansion plans.

The company announced it will use the investment to ‘significantly’ expand its Manchester team with plans to further expand its operations into the US later this year.

The funds will also be used to further scale the platform, which enables companies, brands, studios and content producers to collaborate with teams of CGI, 3D, VFX and AR/VR talent, to tackle the demand for 3D content and specialist talent.

CGHero has been responsible for delivering content across 1,000 productions for companies including Netflix, Disney, Epic Games, SEGA, NHS, BBC, Valvoline, LG and Unilever.

Jonathan Lloyd, CEO of CGHero, said: “It is exciting to bring together incredible teams from around the world to create next-generation immersive content and experiences. The scale of projects we are seeing is unprecedented, and entire worlds of content are needed. Our growing team will enable us to support more clients and build on our platform capabilities to meet the demand.”

Eyal Malinger of Beringea added: “CGHero sits at the intersection of two fundamental trends shaping the global economy: the rise of the metaverse and the future of work. As we see the widespread adoption of AR and VR, demand for 3D content – and the specialist talent required to develop it – will increase dramatically.”
