Glasgow Central Station has been taken over by the BBC to celebrate the city’s creative talent.
Commuters were met with a giant “weclome” mat – inspired by Still Game.
The installation is part of the BBC’s Made of Glasgow campaign, showcasing the city as the birthplace of comedy storytelling from Billy Connolly, to Dinosaur.
Still Game creators and stars, Greg Hemphill and Ford Kiernan attended the station to reveal the installation and meet members of the public.
“It’s not every day you get to see a weclome mat this size! It gave everyone a great laugh and it shows how much affection there still is for Scottish comedy and storytelling,” said Hemphill.
The pop up was part of a wider promotion which has been running throughout the month.
“Made of Glasgow celebrates the humour, humanity and originality of the city’s storytelling and today’s installation was a fun nod to one of our most beloved comedies that is unmistakable Glaswegian,” explained Louise Thornton, Head of Commissioning, BBC Scotland.
“The wider Made of Scotland campaign is all about championing homegrown storytelling and there was no better way to open the celebration than by giving Glasgow a suitably huge weclome.”
There will also be a new BBC brand film, Made of Scotland which draws from the best storytelling across the country, featuring titles such as Rebus, Highland Cops, Jules & Greg’s Wild Swim, Granite Harbour, Only Child and Banjo & Ro’s Grand Island Hotel.
Previous “Made of’s” have featured Liverpool and Birmingham.
The campaign was jointly produced by BBC Creative and BBC Scotland brand teams.
