Lyca Radio confirms Manchester launch

Lyca Radio has confirmed that it will officially be launching in Greater Manchester at the end of April.

The move comes after the group acquired Asian Sound Radio in December last year.

The new station – Lyca Radio – Greater Manchester will reference its history in the new strapline: “A New Asian Sound For The North West of England.”

It will also continue to tell listeners that it was previously known as Asian Sound Radio.

“We are super excited to be finally launching Lyca Radio in the North West of England region. Since we took over from the previous owners of Asian Sound Radio, we’ve been welcomed with open arms by listeners and advertisers,” said Raj Baddhan, CEO of Lyca Media.

“A huge thanks to everyone that has waited patiently for the launch. We are proud to be presenting a refreshing radio station to listeners in the North West of England fused with shows in Urdu, Hindi and English for various communities living in and around Greater Manchester. We will deliver content for all cultures and faiths, including five Islamic prayers per day daily. I want to extend a huge heartfelt thanks to the previous owner, Shafat for making this transition seamless as we embark on this new chapter and make history in the UK Asian radio industry.”

Local content will be made in Manchester, although some programmes will be networked with Lyca Radio in Greater London.

The rebrand officially takes place on 22nd April.
