Former BBC Radio Merseyside legend Frankie Connor has moved his broadcasting to Minerva Radio.
The Frankie Connor Experience airs every Saturday 10am-4pm playing music from yesteryear alongside listeners requests.
Connor, alongside Roger Lyon and a glut of of other big-name local presenters, previously announced they had left Liverpool Live Radio claiming to be owed “thousands” by the station.
On Facebook, at the time, Roger wrote:
“RETRO NEWS !!!!!!!
It is with genuine regret that I have to announce that both Frankie Connor and I have left Liverpool Live Radio with immediate effect. Sadly this means the end of our Retro Shows.
It was clear last weekend when we were unable to access the studio that all was not well. It is now apparent that the studio has closed and the station is continuing on a “work from home” basis.
Both Frankie and I agree that this is not for us. We believe radio is best presented from a studio with the ability to interact with listeners. Therefore we have called time.
We both want to thank all the loyal Retro listeners who have supported us since we moved from Radio Merseyside, and we know how disappointed many of you will be. We share your disappointment.
When Billy Butler, Linda Mac and Frankie and I first lined up together at LL, we had high hopes, so it is a shame that all of us have had to leave [Linda McDermott is another big, former BBC name to have departed from Liverpool Live in recent weeks – ed].
We wish all the volunteers who remain at LL, the very best of luck for the future.
Keep it Retro.”
