All screenings at the Liverpool Film Festival will now be shown online because of the city being placed on tier 3 restrictions by the government.
This week it was announced that the Liverpool city region was being placed under the highest level of restrictions imposed by the government because of rapidly rising Covid cases.
The festival had aimed to host a selection of screenings at the Odeon, Liverpool One, with filmmakers invited to attend post-screening Q&As.
Now all screenings will be shown online via the festival’s website, LIVIFF.COM. They will still be on the advertised dates (from 23rd to 25th October) and at the same times, with ticket purchasers given a link to virtual screenings.
All tickets already purchased for screenings in the cinema will be valid for the online screenings, which are priced at £5.75 each.
LIVIFF hopes that next year’s festival will be able to go ahead in cinema “and that we can all get back to seeing the best independent film up on the big screen.”
Highlights include the coming of age 18 TO PARTY, directed by Jeff Roda; Polish film 1800 GRAMS; Portuguese film SURDINE; and GIANTS BEING LONELY, a drama about three high schoolers looking to escape their rural existence.
