Liverpool FC captain Jordan Henderson has said frontline workers showed “great strength” in an interview on BBC Breakfast with Sally Nugent.
He met staff at Liverpool University Hospitals on this morning’s (November 3rd) show, and met those supported by his #PlayersTogether charity initiative.
Henderson brought other football stars together for the initiative last year to generate money for the NHS and distribute funds where they were “needed most.”
Speaking today, he told Nugent – who was recently announced as a new regular presenter on Breakfast – he said: “It’s incredible from all the lads in the Premier League to be able to raise so much money.
“Even when the pandemic’s over, the wellbeing [and] the mental health of a lot of the staff will need to be treated carefully.
“What they’ve suffered, is a form of trauma really… that could stay with them for a long time. I think to be able to support them, to get the right help that they need and support around them, it will be really important”.
