A big weekend for Manchester indie, Salamanda, which has shows airing on Channel 4 and 5.
Tonight it will be going behind the scenes of the World’s Biggest Curry Restaurant on Channel 4, and on Sunday it will be on the search for Britain’s Best Service Station, on 5.
For Sunday’s show, JB Gill will “celebrate the eccentricity of this quintessentially British and much-loved institution.”
He’ll also find out the modern day service stations are more than just fuel and fast food, as he visits luxury farm shops in the Lake District and a motorway surf shop in Cornwall.
The documentary is based around a Which? poll to see which places have become destinations in their own right.

Crews will film at the busiest, newest and oldest service stations, while meeting the people who make it all happen.
There’ll also be stories about the hidden history of Watford Gap, which was once a hangout for stars like The Rolling Stones and Freddie Mercury; plus the first ever fully electric service station, with no petrol at all; and they’ll speak to “The Services King”, who has spent more than £10,000 visiting every single service station in the UK, multiple times.
It will air on 24th May at 7pm on 5.
