Home announces FilmFear line up

Home has revealed details of this year’s Halloween celebration, FilmFear, which it’s hoping will run from the end of October.

Film4 and Home have co-curated a line-up of “modern genre classics” across politics, race, sexuality and social issues, ranging from Wes Craven’s The People Under the Stairs, to Invasion of the Body Snatchers and The Host, from Oscar-winning Director, Bong Joon-ho (Parasite).

“Even though what many of us are experiencing day-to-day may feel unprecedented, the horror genre has already seen it, done it and no doubt re-imagined it as either a city-devouring monster or an undead infestation,” said Film4’s David Cox.

“And somehow, these extreme representations of our worst fears and most unimaginable realities have the power to make us feel better – or at least distract us from the terror outside for 90 minutes.”

Home is also showing a restored version of 90s horror classic Candyman. That’s in lieu of a remake, which was due to head to cinemas later in the month.

On November 5th, FilmFear will screen Attack the Block, from writer/director Joe Cornish, who’ll take part in a live video Q&A.

The festival will also join forces with the ¡Viva! Spanish & Latin American Festival for the second time, to celebrates Chicho, Spain’s “horror maestro.”

FilmFear is due to run from Wednesday, 28 October to Thursday, 5 November.
